In osteopenia, calcium supplementation is often recommended, but the decision should take into account the level of calcium in the blood and its excretion in the urine. High levels of calcium in the blood may suggest other causes, such as hyperparathyroidism. It is worth consulting a doctor to assess the total calcium balance and possibly consider supplementing with vitamin D instead of calcium alone.
