Diseases of the blood and hematopoietic system (haematological)
Hello! I have a low ferritin of 11.9 μg/l (the norm is 13-150). A doctor in another country recommended the drug Tardyferon-Fol, I can't buy it, because there is no prescription, what over-the-counter iron drug can be replaced?

Recommended preparations containing iron:
- Solgar Gentle Iron - contains an iron compound that is well absorbed and does not cause irritation of the gastrointestinal tract
- Actoferol - a product available in various doses, in the form of capsules or sachets
- Ascofer - over-the-counter drug
The preparations should be washed down with water. A good solution is to avoid eating meals containing large amounts of calcium (e.g. dairy products, milk) and products containing magnesium and zinc at the same time, as they hinder the absorption of iron. Regular blood tests should be performed to monitor ferritin and haemoglobin levels. Usually, the process of rebuilding iron reserves in the body is long. It is worth diagnosing and eliminating the cause of anemia (e.g. excessive menstrual bleeding), if possible.
