Good evening. Lexrz prescribed Helicid 20 for esophageal-laryngeal reflux to my 5-year-old daughter 2x a day for 2 weeks (then only one dose before dinner). Isn't 40 mg too high a dose for a 5-year-old?

The active substance of Helicide is omeprazole. The dosage of omeprazole in children may vary depending on the individual assessment of the doctor and the patient's medical condition, and the dosage may also differ from generally accepted recommendations.
According to the Helicid documentation, 20 mg omeprazole per day is used in the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease and symptomatic treatment of heartburn and acid regurgitation in esophageal reflux disease in children over 2 years of age and weighing more than 20 kg, if necessary, the doctor may increase the dose to 40 mg per day.
If there are any doubts about the recommended dosage, it is best to discuss them with the specialist who ordered the use of the preparation.
