It is not recommended to use antibiotics without consulting a doctor. Most throat/upper respiratory tract infections are viral, so the antibiotic will not work anyway, but it can cause gastrointestinal disorders and increase microbial resistance and make it difficult to treat further diseases. To diagnose the cause of pharyngitis, a medical examination is necessary (sometimes a culture test is necessary). Antibiotic treatment should last a certain number of days, and the drug itself should be administered in precise doses at specific times of the day.
Pharyngitis can be treated with lozenges with disinfectant and analgesic properties, e.g. Orofar Max, Tantum Verde, Uniben, Gardimax, and drugs with systemic anti-inflammatory properties, e.g. Ibuprom/Nurofen.
