No, the PESEL number should not be sent to the doctor in ordinary correspondence, especially in unsecured instant messengers or e-mails. This is confidential information and must be transmitted in a secure manner.
How to properly provide PESEL when asking for an e-prescription:
Through official platforms – it is better to use the Patient Portal (Online Patient Account, IKP) or secure medical applications.
During the consultation - if you are already at an appointment or at an official conversation with a doctor via a secure medical platform.
By phone – if your doctor asks you to confirm your data, but make sure you contact a trusted medical facility.
This is important because the PESEL number can be used for fraudulent activities. Correspondence in instant messengers may not be sufficiently protected.
You can also make an appointment for a teleconsultation, e.g. via the Gdziepolek.pl portal: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/telekonsultacja
