Diarrhoea is one of the common side effects of Dexilant. Side effects will not occur in everyone. According to the manufacturer's information, it occurs in ≥1/100 to <1/10 patients taking this drug.
The causes of diarrhoea can be different and it does not necessarily have to be related to the medication used. The causes include, for example, infection (usually viral), improper diet, stress, food hypersensitivity, consumption of toxic substances.
It is worth reporting any ailments related to the drug you are taking, especially if the diarrhoea recurs and the drug has been recommended for longer use. Perhaps the doctor will suggest a modification of the current therapy and recommend a better tolerated drug.
