When used correctly, a condom is an effective contraceptive.
The Pearl index, which determines the number of pregnancies that occur during the year for every 100 sexually active couples using a given method of contraception, for male condoms is 3 - 18. This means that 3 - 18 pregnancies will occur per 100 couples per year. The effectiveness of a condom is influenced by several factors, such as the expiry date of the product, mechanical damage, incorrect insertion of the condom.
However, if the condom has not broken, slipped off and there has been no ejaculation of semen in the vagina (interrupted intercourse) – there is no risk of pregnancy.
If you are going to take a pregnancy test anyway, you should do it no earlier than 8-10 days after intercourse - from morning urine.
If menstruation occurs in a week, pregnancy can be ruled out.
