Thiogamma is a drug containing thioctanoic acid (alpha-lipoic acid), used in the treatment of sensory disorders associated with diabetic polyneuropathy.
The exact mechanism of action of thioctic acid in the treatment of diabetic polyneuropathy is not completely understood, but this substance has an impact on many metabolic processes in the body, and in vitro studies indicate that it has antioxidant properties (neutralizing various forms of reactive oxygen).
Some of the clinical studies conducted have shown that this substance relieves the symptoms of diabetic polyneuropathy (such as pain, numbness and burning).
