Can you use Zoloft in athletes?

Zoloft is an SSRI (Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor) drug with m.in. antidepressant effects used in the treatment of depression and post-traumatic anxiety disorder. There are no direct contraindications to the use of Zoloft in athletes. According to available literature data, both short- and long-term SSRIs do not affect strength or physical performance during high-intensity exercise in young adult men. It should also be borne in mind that the use of the drug may cause side effects, which include, m.in, fever, muscle weakness, weight gain, injuries, heart problems.
