Augmentin is a prescription antibiotic for bacterial infections, e.g. upper respiratory infections (the doctor must inspect the throat and auscultate the patient to be able to assess the cause of inflammation). Do not take this medicine without talking to your doctor. Sore throat and cough are most often viral - in this case, the antibiotic will not work, but it will cause gastrointestinal problems and make it difficult to treat further infections. Medications that can be used on your own include:
- Orofar, Tantum verde forte - for the throat, with disinfectant and anesthetic effect
- Ibuprom - anti-inflammatory, pain-relieving drug
- cough syrup (if coughing is accompanied by tearing off - take an expectorant preparation, e.g. . Phlegamine/Mucosolvan, if not - cough suppressant, e.g. Supremin/Levopront)
