The doctor recommended Ospen 750 in a dose of 2x10 ml to my daughter weighing 21 kg - is the dose too high?

The doctor prescribed Ospen 750 for streptococcal infection - scarlet fever to my daughter 4 years old weight 21 kg 2x 10ml is it not too high a dose. The doctor pointed out that the data on the leaflet are outdated and at the moment an increased dosage of the drug is recommended. Is this the correct dosage?

The information contained in the summary of product characteristics indicates a different dosage (lower) than recommended by the doctor:

"Children from 1 to 6 years (10-22 kg) 375,000 IU (1/2 scoop) 3 times a day (every 8 h)."

There are situations in which the prescription is different than indicated in the leaflet - in this case, it is necessary to discuss the details of the treatment directly with the doctor. I encourage you to consult the dosage again with your pediatrician.

On our website, you can take advantage of a teleconsultation with a paediatrician - the service is available on our website in the e-visit tab:

During treatment and for some time after its completion, the child should be given probiotics to avoid gastrointestinal disorders.
