Assuming that menstrual bleeding began on September 18 and the cycle lasts 28 days, the fertile days fall between September 27 and October 2. In a cycle of 28 days, ovulation usually takes place around the 14th day of the cycle, which is halfway through. Fertile days include a few days before and after ovulation, as sperm can survive in a woman's body for up to 5 days, and an egg can be fertilized for about 24 hours after ovulation.
