Can hydroxychloroquine cause muscle pain, weakness, and a drop in creatinine?

Good morning. For five months I have been taking Hydroxychloroquine at a dose of 1x200 mg in the evening. For about a month I have been feeling fatigue, i.e. weakness and muscle pain. I was also concerned about the last creatinine result, i.e. 1.21 mg/l with the norm up to 1.2. Will these side effects go away when I stop taking this medicine? When to do a creatinine check-up? Thank you for your reply.

Side effects such as muscle pain and weakness may occur when using Hydroxychloroquine. Very rarely (up to 1 in 10,000 patients using this medicine) worsening of kidney function has also been reported very rarely (up to 1 in 10,000 patients using this medicine). Side effects should be reported to your doctor to determine if they are due to the use of this medicine. The time after which the creatinine test should be repeated will be determined by a specialist.
The side effects caused by hydroxychloroqine usually disappear after the drug is discontinued.
