Good morning!
I was given memotropil by my doctor to treat my dizziness. In the leaflet I read that the drug causes weight gain. I am already obese, I am on a reduction diet of 1500kcal and I meticulously count calories. Can I still gain weight after taking this drug or is it because it increases appetite? Does it slow down metabolism? Please give me a specific answer, a similar question was asked here, but the pharmacist did not describe what causes weight gain after this drug.

Weight gain (weight gain) is not a typical side effect of Memotropil. This drug does not directly affect metabolism in a way that could lead to weight gain. However, in individual cases, there are unusual reactions of the body to the drug, which may indirectly contribute to weight change, such as:
- change in appetite – this is a rare effect of the drug, but some people may experience increased appetite, which can lead to weight gain,
- Other side effects of the medicine, such as tiredness and drowsiness, may cause a decrease in physical activity, which in turn may lead to weight gain.
If you notice weight gain while taking this medication, it is worth consulting your doctor to determine if other factors or medications are the cause, as well as to consider any changes in your treatment.
