Theospirex is a drug indicated for the treatment of severe bronchospasm in chronic respiratory diseases such as bronchial asthma or asthmatic condition and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
The safety of theophylline (Theospirex) during pregnancy has not been established due to insufficient studies available. For this reason, the drug should not be used during pregnancy unless clearly necessary and when the benefits of the preparation for the mother outweigh the potential risk to the foetus.
The substance crosses the placental barrier and can affect the foetus.
The use of the preparation in the final period of pregnancy may inhibit uterine contractility.
