Good morning!
Can I eat chicken/cheese that contains a lot of tryptophan while taking SSRI-Asertin(sertraline) 25mg.
I have the impression that after these symptoms I become more nervous and anxious, unless it's my anxiety neurosis (with panic attacks) that works like this and the subconscious.
As far as I knew, it's mainly about MAOIs, not SSRIs. Are there any contraindications besides grapefruit juices?
Thanks

The consumption of chicken and cheeses that contain tryptophan is not contraindicated with the concomitant use of sertraline (Asertin). Tryptophan is an amino acid that is a precursor to serotonin, and its supplementation can support the action of antidepressants such as SSRIs, which include sertraline. In fact, tryptophan can help to balance serotonin levels in the body, which is beneficial in the context of treating mood disorders.
However, if you experience an increase in anxiety symptoms after consuming these foods, it may be related to anxiety neurosis and not directly to tryptophan or sertraline. It is worth consulting your doctor to discuss your symptoms and adjust your treatment if necessary.
As for contraindications, the main one here is to avoid grapefruit juices, which can affect the metabolism of drugs, including sertraline. Other interactions mainly concern monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs), which should not be combined with SSRIs.
