The combination of metformin (Glucophage XR) with ibuprofen or other drugs with similar effects may increase the likelihood of lactic acidosis. The risk of developing it is also increased if the patient suffers from kidney or liver disease, has acute or unstable congestive heart failure, is dehydrated or has consumed alcohol. Symptoms of lactic acidosis are, m.in, fatigue, weakness, muscle pain, increasing drowsiness, abdominal pain or discomfort, slow or irregular heartbeat, difficulty breathing, chills.
The combined use of Buscopan and Glucophage XR does not cause significant interactions affecting the health and safety of the preparations.
