A smallpox vaccine (trade names: Imvanex, Jynneos, Imvamune) is available that has been shown to be effective in preventing Mpox. It can be given to people in risk groups, including healthcare workers and those who have been in contact with infected people.
In Poland, these vaccines are not available for purchase in pharmacies, but are administered directly in infectious disease clinics. A doctor consulting a patient suspected of having Mpox infection is responsible for issuing a referral to a specialist clinic for infectious diseases.
