Hello, I've been treated for schizophrenia for several years with very good results, but I'm gaining a lot of weight and I don't know how to deal with it, what to suggest to a psychiatrist? I have Latuda drug, after which I want to eat less, but just like Depranal and Trazadon, it intensifies my depression. What to do about it, I have a week before the doctor's appointment? Be patient and take these medications? Best regards

Weight gain is a common side effect of medications used to treat schizophrenia, especially some antipsychotics. This can be difficult because both treatment effectiveness and weight management are important for health and well-being. Please do not change your treatment regimen on your own, take the preparations prescribed by your doctor according to the schedule. At the next visit, please outline the problem to the psychiatrist, ask about the possibility of modifying the dose of medication or changing the preparations to other ones.
For your part, you can take care of healthy eating, avoiding processed foods, physical activity, hydrating yourself in the amount of 1.5-2l per day.
Additionally, psychological support, such as cognitive behavioral therapy, can help you manage the frustration or stress associated with weight gain.
