Gabapentin can cause water retention in the body as a side effect. Water retention, also known as peripheral edema, is manifested by the accumulation of fluids in the tissues, leading to swelling, especially in the lower extremities (legs and feet). Leg pain is not a typical side effect caused by gabapentin, but it can occur as a result of swelling. If the mentioned side effects do not pass or intensify - I would advise you to contact your doctor, it may be necessary to change your treatment to a different one.
