Vermox, which contains mebendazole, is a medication used to treat parasitic infections, including toxocariasis.
The recommended dose should be determined by your doctor. The standard dose for adults is usually 100 mg (1 tablet) twice a day for 3 days. In the case of more severe infections, your doctor may recommend longer treatment.
The tablets should be taken orally with water. They can be swallowed whole or chewed/crushed for easy swallowing. There is no need for diet or laxatives during treatment.
Vermox should not be used for more than 3 days, as an overdose can cause abdominal cramps, nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea. Transient hepatic impairment, hepatitis, glomerulonephritis and neutropenia have been observed in patients who have been taking the medicine for a long time.
If you have any further doubts, it is worth consulting your attending physician. If you are unable to consult your doctor, you can use the teleconsultation here:
