Mupirox is the brand name for an ointment containing mupirocin, a topical antibiotic used mainly to treat skin infections such as impetigo, wound infections and folliculitis. Mupirox can be used on pressure ulcers that are superficial and infected with mupirocin-sensitive bacteria, but only after consulting a doctor. In the case of deep or severe pressure ulcers, treatment should be more comprehensive and supervised by a specialist.
