Doreta is a combination drug containing tramadol and paracetamol - both substances taken in excess can cause poisoning with fatal consequences. A single intake of about 7-8 g of paracetamol (the maximum daily dose is 4 g) may cause liver damage leading to necrosis of this organ, and consequently to coma and death. In the case of tramadol, the maximum daily dose is about 400 mg (up to this value, no toxic effects on the respiratory system are observed). An overdose of all opioid drugs manifests itself in a similar way. The main symptoms are pin-shaped pupils, drowsiness, breathing disorders leading to apnea and death, intestinal paralysis and urinary retention. The lethal dose of tramadol is 5 grams. It should be remembered that taking other drugs and stimulants (e.g. alcohol) can reduce the body's tolerance and cause symptoms of poisoning at much lower doses.
For buprenorphine (a component of Bunondol), the maximum daily dose for an adult is 24 mg. Buprenorphine, compared to other opioids, has a lower depressant effect on the respiratory center. Studies in animals indicate a dose of 1 mg/kg body weight as a toxic dose. Buprenorphine has the so-called ceiling effect, i.e. after exceeding a certain dose (in the range of therapeutic doses), buprenorphine does not show increased effects (both medical and non-medical).
Other opioids:
Fentanyl - toxic dose: 4 MICROGRAMS per kg body weight, lethal dose (estimated - total) 2 mg
Morphine - toxic dose: about 60 mg, lethal dose 120-200 mg (increase in tolerance in addicts).
