Hello, I have epilepsy without visible seizures, i.e. consciousness disorders, confusion, I lack words, big problems with memory. I take lamitrin 350 mg daily. The doctor assigned me petinimide to target 1000mg per day. He is a very young doctor. I don't know if there are any interactions between these drugs and if petinimide is a safe drug. Please help

The following is the information on the effects of Petinimide, as set out in the summary of product characteristics:
"Ethosuximide (Petinimid) is effective in unconsciousness seizures and some other types of generalized seizures.
Ethosuximide may be combined with other anticonvulsants to achieve control of mixed seizures.
Ethosuximide has a good anticonvulsant effect, which is particularly evident in the treatment of unconsciousness seizures."
The maximum daily dose can be even over 2000mg. The treatment prescribed by the doctor is complementary.
Like any other medicine, Petinimide can cause side effects, which does not mean that they will affect every patient taking this medicine.
To sum up: I do not see any objections to the proposed treatment.
