Good morning
I would like to ask if there was unprotected intercourse and the next day there was an intense menstrual period, is there a risk of getting pregnant? My last cycle was regular, it lasted 35 days, while my previous one was longer and therefore irregular. Can this affect possible fertilization? Are sperm cells able to last until the next ovulation?
Thank you

Having intercourse the day before menstrual bleeding is associated with a low risk of pregnancy, especially if menstrual cycles are regular and it is possible to calculate what day ovulation falls. The day before menstruation then falls on the infertile day, and the survival of sperm in the female genital tract until ovulation is close to zero. Depending on the source, the lifespan of sperm in the female genital tract is estimated at 2-3 days, up to a maximum of 5 days.
With irregular cycles, however, it is impossible to determine the day of possible ovulation, and thus the probability of pregnancy. Ovulation usually occurs about 14 days before the next menstrual period, so with longer cycles (35 days) ovulation occurs later than with shorter menstrual cycles. Fertile days begin a few days before ovulation and last up to 3-4 days after ovulation, and the best chances of getting pregnant are on the day before ovulation and on the day of ovulation. If your cycles are generally regular, last 35 days and the irregular cycle occurred once, and the intercourse occurred 1 day before menstrual bleeding, the risk of pregnancy is close to zero. Nevertheless, it can never be completely ruled out.
To confirm or exclude pregnancy, it is worth taking a pregnancy test, which after 10-14 days should give a reliable result. Here you can compare the prices of this type of products in Polish online pharmacies and place an order with home delivery or collection at a pharmacy in Poland:

To @Anastasia:
Delaying menstruation by 6 days after unprotected sex may suggest a risk of pregnancy, especially if the intercourse took place during ovulation. The best step in this situation is to take a pregnancy test, which you can do right now to get a certain result. If the result is negative and menstruation does not occur within a few days, I encourage you to consult your doctor to rule out other reasons for the delay.
