Lorazepam and Diazepam are different medicines that belong to the same group (benzodiazepines). Lorazepam is used to treat anxiety disorders in the course of depression. Diazepam can also be used to interrupt psychosis and as a means of reducing muscle spasms caused by injury (e.g. spinal cord). Diazapam works faster than Lorazepam and has more medical uses. Both drugs can only be used for a short time due to their addictive potential and increasing tolerance. Discontinuation of the drug should be done gradually to avoid worsening of side effects.
