Hello. I have endometriosis and an endometrial cyst. The doctor gave me visanna. I'm only taking it on the 3rd day. I've read that this drug is used to treat endometriosis, and my question is, does it also have an analgesic and anti-inflammatory effect? How long does it take to know if it's working?

Visanne is a hormonal drug, it is not an analgesic or anti-inflammatory preparation.
Dienogest (the active substance in Visanne) acts on endometriosis by reducing the endogenous production of estradiol and thus suppresses the trophic effect of estradiol on the eutopic and ectopic endometrium. In the case of continuous administration, dienogest leads to the formation of an endocrine environment characterized by estrogen deficiency and an excess of gestogens, resulting in an initial secretory transformation (decidualization) with subsequent atrophy of endometrial structures.
In order to alleviate pain symptoms, over-the-counter analgesic and anti-inflammatory drugs can be used in parallel.
