8) Hold the pen with the needle pointing upwards, gently tap the cartridge holder with your finger to allow air bubbles to collect at the top of the cartridge.

9) Release some of the medicine from the pen by pushing the dosing knob all the way down. Then slowly count to 5 while holding the dispensing knob. The dose window must show a "0" icon, do not inject the drug into your body.
Preparing the pen is done to remove air from the cartridge. A pen can be considered prepared if a small amount of medicine comes out of the needle tip.
