There is no direct evidence that the use of sertraline (the trade name for Zoloft) increases the risk of bone fractures. Sertraline is an antidepressant from the group of serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), mainly used to treat depressive disorders, anxiety disorders and other mental health problems.
However, there is some research suggesting potential links between SSRIs and bone health. Some studies indicate that long-term use of SSRIs may affect bone mineral density and bone metabolism, which could theoretically affect the risk of fractures.
