Good evening. It's New Year's Eve today, so it's obvious that I'd like to have some alcohol with my friends at a party. I've recently started taking metformin, and the last time I took it was at 10 p.m. yesterday. If I drink some champagne around 12 p.m. today, will I be okay? How long after withdrawal can I drink alcohol? I'm interested in the same thing with the moklar - it's also a drug that I take. I'd like to point out that I haven't taken it yet, and the last time I took it was yesterday around 5 p.m.

We have written about the safety of alcohol consumption during treatment with metformin preparations in our opinions:
Alcohol should also be avoided while taking Moklar. The combination of alcohol and Moklar increases the risk of side effects.
However, the average half-life of the drug is about 3 hours, which means that after more than 15 hours, the concentration of Moklar in the blood is close to zero and drinking a small amount of alcohol (e.g. some champagne) should not have a major impact on the safety of the therapy.
