With such a complex therapy, it is difficult to determine the risk and direction of drug-drug interactions.
It is worth measuring blood pressure regularly in case of symptoms of hypotension - such as weakness, headaches, dizziness, drowsiness. It is a good idea to record the results of the measurements and present them to the doctor at the next visit.
What's more, you should monitor your blood glucose levels. Carvedilol (the active ingredient in Avedol) may increase the effect of metformin (Avamina) and make it more difficult to notice the first signs of low blood glucose levels, such as increased sweating, trembling hands or increased heart rate.
Metformin may cause the levels of lactic acid in the blood to rise excessively. This is a rare but very serious side effect that occurs especially in the elderly, with kidney or liver problems, dehydration and alcohol abuse. Spironolactone (Verospiron) also increases the risk of this effect. If you notice significant weakness, muscle pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, shortness of breath, rapid breathing, cardiac arrhythmias, consult a doctor.
