24.99 zł

Good morning
My mother (83 years old) has been taking Depakine Chrono 300 for 10 days, 2 times a day. in addition, he regularly takes Zenmem, Yasnal, Tritico. Since he has been taking Depakin, he has had very big problems with walking and balance. Is this normal/or are these symptoms temporary?

To @ Anna:

In the situation you describe, it is necessary to consult the attending physician. The drug I am taking, Levetiracetam, is commonly used to treat epileptic seizures.

However, the fact that she has stopped walking and is not in contact with her raises concerns that require medical attention. Aphasia, a speech disorder that makes it difficult to pronounce words fluently and accurately, is one of the side effects of Trittico. If you notice a side effect, you should report it to your doctor. It is the doctor who decides on the possible treatment of the patient, m.in. on the basis of the patient's medical history and previous response to treatment. Only the doctor can decide whether to change the pharmacotherapy.

If you do not have the opportunity to consult your mother's doctor, you can use the teleconsultation here:

I also encourage you to report the symptoms you are experiencing to your doctor, as well as to report the occurrence of an adverse reaction of the preparation. Reporting side effects allows you to increase control over the medicines available on the market. We wrote more about how and why to report side effects in the article:

My mother exactly the same 80 years after an ischemic stroke, removal of a meningioma tumor after three weeks she got a cluster seizure. At the hospital they prescribed her an additional drug levetiracetam 2 x a day since then she has basically stopped walking. For two weeks he has been taking trittico sets, no contact, what to do?

Ataxia, a disorder of motor coordination that makes it difficult to perform movements smoothly and accurately, is one of the side effects of Depakine Chrono.
If you notice any side effect, you should report it to your doctor, you may need to reduce your dose.

This symptom may be transient - disappear after 2-3 weeks of therapy. Nevertheless, in the case of an elderly patient, it is advisable to consult the dosage method with a doctor.

If you do not have the opportunity to consult your mother's doctor, you can use the teleconsultation here:

The symptom you observed in your mother is not the result of Depakine interacting with other drugs, but a reaction to Depakine treatment and perhaps too high a dose of the drug. That is why I encourage you to consult your doctor.
