Does Afobam intensify heartburn?

Can Afobam worsen reflux/heartburn symptoms? I have been prescribed this drug by a psychiatrist temporarily for anxiety, and I am being treated for reflux. When discontinuing Emaner, the so-called rebound effect appeared and I have to temporarily save myself with other Gaviscon preparations. This caused an increase in anxiety and unfortunately I have no way to ask the doctor if taking Afobam temporarily for a few days can intensify these symptoms associated with excessive acid secretion.

The alprazolam in Afobam is an anxiolytic substance from the benzodiazepine group that is used to treat anxiety and anxiety disorders. Benzodiazepines, including alprazolam, can affect the muscular and relaxation systems, which could potentially affect processes related to gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). Some people report that benzodiazepines can affect the severity of reflux symptoms. However, the body's reaction to medication is very individual, so there is a possibility that not every person will experience an increase in reflux symptoms when using alprazolam. Nevertheless - I would advise in this situation to consult the attending physician.
