At the request of a gastroenterologist I have to take L-glutamine 500mg in a dose of 2x2 per day. As a support for the treatment of SIBO. However, it is written on the packaging that the dose is 1-2 capsules per day. Unfortunately, I have no way to ask the doctor. Can this supplement really be taken in such an increased dose or could there be some distortion here?

L-glutamine is an endogenous amino acid, i.e. one that our body can synthesize itself. According to available information, glutamine doses can reach up to 15g per day, so the dosage of 2x1000mg is not too high. The doctor does not always order the intake of preparations in accordance with the manufacturer's leaflet, this is influenced by factors such as the current state of knowledge, experience and the patient's state of health.
