The Structum Summary of Product Characteristics states that the medicine should be taken as follows: the capsules should be swallowed whole with a glass of water. Usually 1 capsule of 500 mg twice a day (1 g per day) is used. The description shows that the dosage would be wiser to spread over the day and take one capsule first and after a few hours the second. If this dosage is not a problem for you - I would recommend it more than using both capsules at once.
