Enemas and rectal infusions are medical remedies used primarily to cleanse the intestines. Preparations containing strong phosphate laxatives (e.g. Enema) are intended for use as part of preparation for diagnostic tests, such as colonoscopy. Pharmacies also offer so-called micro-infusions, which contain natural polysaccharide complexes and moisturize the anal mucosa, facilitating bowel movements.
